Get to Know Me
I grew up in a small town in Argentina where everybody knows everybody. I trained at a hospital in Buenos Aires, was elected chief resident, and then received further training in neonatology and Emergency Medicine before moving to Wilmington with my wife, Dr. Petrini.
Why I Treat Children
I really enjoyed the time I spent training in medical school and I enjoyed the pediatric part the most. So I decided to take that path and have never regretted it. Kids have the fire inside, and bounce back quickly.
What I'm Passionate About
I’m passionate about helping people in general, especially children. I advocate for immunizations, which are one of the wonders of medicine, along with educating kids about obesity, asthma and the importance of complying with medication regimens. These are very serious issues in many populations. My other big passion is creating a medical home for my patient families. The medical home concept combines teamwork and information technology to improve patient care, reduce health care costs, and improve patients’ experiences. The goal is to foster an ongoing partnership between patients and their health care providers.
How I Try to Make A Difference
I did mission work with a group that spent a month helping people in the Andes mountain range in South America. It was a beautiful experience, sharing habits and culture, and it taught me to put myself in other people’s shoes and see things from their perspective.
